Dr. Stephanie Ferguson Appointed to Board of Directors at Bon Secours Mercy Health

Stephanie Ferguson, PhD, RN, FAAN, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the newly merged Bon Secours Health System and Mercy Health. The new entity is known as Bon Secours Mercy Health. Dr. Ferguson will also serve as a member of the Finance and Strategy Committee.

Dr. Ferguson was a long-time member of the Board of Directors at Bon Secours Health System, Inc. (BSHSI). She also served on the Bon Secours Finance Committee and the Quality Committee during her tenure with BSHSI.

Dr. Ferguson brings expertise in health systems strengthening, human resources, executive leadership development, finance and innovative global health strategies to her role on the Bon Secours Mercy Health board. She is Founder, CEO and President of Stephanie L. Ferguson & Associates, LLC, a global health consulting firm with more than three decades of experience designing, implementing and evaluating health-related strategic plans and programs.

Bon Secours, based in Marriottsville, MD, and Mercy Health, based in Cincinnati, OH, announced plans to merge earlier this year. Bon Secours Mercy Health is the fifth-largest Catholic health system in the country.

It will include:

• 43 hospitals and more than 1,000 care sites in seven states
• Over 50 home health agencies, hospice sites, and skilled nursing and assisted living facilities
• 2,100 employed physicians and advanced practice clinicians
• More than 57,000 staff members
• $8 billion in net operating revenue and $293 million in operating income

Bon Secours Mercy Health will work to improve community health, reduce health disparities and enhance access to low-cost, high-value health care. Once fully merged, the organization will provide nearly $2 million in community benefit daily.
