Leading Change—Developing Our World’s Best Leaders

At Stephanie L. Ferguson & Associates, LLC, we are in the business of developing leaders worldwide. We provide a variety of programs and services.  Check us out and let us know if we can help you on your leadership journey.

For more than 20 years, I have developed, implemented and evaluated nursing and other health professional leadership programs worldwide.  This year marked 20 years of the International Council of Nurses’ (ICN) Leadership for Change (LFC) Program.  I had the great opportunity to work with the ICN to expand, implement and evaluate the LFC Program in more than 60 countries.  Read the 20-year evaluation article, which was selected as the Editor’s Choice in the International Nursing Review Journal for March 2016:  http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/inr.12248/epdf

In addition to the ICN LFC Program, I was also the Director of the ICN Global Nursing Leadership Institute (GNLI).  To learn more about the GNLI refer to the ICN website: leadership.icn.ch

American Academy of Nursing’s Institute for Nursing Leadership

On April 1, 2016, I became the Chair of the American Academy of Nursing’s (AAN) Institute for Nursing Leadership’s (INL) National Advisory Council (NAC).  I have been an active Fellow and financial sponsor of the American Academy of Nursing since the late 1990’s.  The AAN appointed me in 2014 as the Co-Chair of the INL NAC and Dr. Angela McBride, Chair.

The American Academy of Nursing (www.AANnet.org) serves the public and the nursing profession by advancing health policy and practice through the generation, synthesis, and dissemination of nursing knowledge. The Academy’s more than 2,300 fellows are nursing’s most accomplished leaders in education, management, practice, and research. They have been recognized for their extraordinary contributions to nursing and health care.

The Academy’s Institute will increase nurse appointments to national and select state governing boards of health-related entities, councils, commissions and task forces; prepare Academy fellows and emerging nurse leaders for such appointments; and evaluate the impact and value of nurse appointments on the work of the decision-making bodies on which they serve.  Since the INL’s launch, the AAN has increased the number of our Academy Fellows to national and select state governing boards.

The INL is part of the Academy’s effort as a founding member of the  Nurses on Boards Coalition to reach the goal of placing 10,000 nurses on boards, commissions and task forces by 2020.
